Hi there friends!!!

Thank you for visiting!

One of my passions is healthy living. Despite this passion, last spring I reached my highest weight ever due to a battle with severe depression, personal circumstances, and poor choices. Unhappy with my self-image, the choices I was making (and that the fact I was going to have to start buying new pants) I decided I had to choose to get healthy again. In June 2008, I decided to start training for my first figure competition. My initial goal was to lose weight. I didn’t realize I would begin to lose others things in the process, such as my lingering sadness, my bad attitude, and my low-self esteem. To date I have lost almost 20 lbs and feel better than ever! Most importantly my chronic depression has all but disappeared and I once again have the confidence and energy to give to the people and activities I love. I’ve created this blog to encourage as many women as possible. Feel free to email me to say hi and if you want you can sign up for my newsletter to receive free updates, recipes, workouts and hopefully laughs! Wishing you the best as your journey toward your own health & fitness goals. You can do it!!!

Six months down. Six to go.

It’s July 1st.  That means six months of this year have come and gone.  That leaves 6 more months to accomplish what you set out to do this year.  I re-visted my list of goals from January.
1. Compete in another competition. - Done.
2. Hold a 5 minute plank.  - Over halfway there.
3. Do 10 consecutive [...]

Super Squirrel

Today is the first morning I’ve felt “normal” since last Wednesday.  At least as normal as I can feel when I’ve got the present monster scratching at the door.  My head is finally starting to clear after the 2 day carb fest.  I did my best to get back on plan yesterday although I had [...]

Old Mother Hubbard

Went to the cupboard.
Despite being close to the show.
When she got there
The cupboard should have been bare
Since she has trouble with “NO”.
Here’s a recap of the competition from yesterday.
The competition was an hour away from my house (w/o traffic) in Hollywood so I had decided I’d drive down in the morning which meant I got [...]

I’ve Lost Now I Compete

Wanted to say hi before my competition tomorrow.  Unlike my first show, it’s been a really chill day.  Seriously, I’ve been so laid back.  It’s nice for a change.  Cuddled with hubby before I got up and had breakfast.  The I spent the day painting on my tan, managed to throw in a few errands, [...]

The Braxtons

I’m really not a pack rat even though I’ve been hanging on to one particular pair of jeans for about 15 years.  The Braxtons.
I bought The Braxtons at a thrift store when I was a teenager because I thought they were cool. They have TRIPLE gold stitching going down the legs and around the back [...]

Piccata-like Chicken with you guessed it….

artichokes!!!!!  Leave’em out if ya don’t like’em.
This is one of my last minute “I don’t know what to cook” recipes because the ingredients are all staples in my kitchen.  It’s that easy and quick and most importantly good for you.  And honestly I don’t really know if you can even call this Chicken Piccata.  I [...]

I don’t have time because I’m tired from watching TV.

A man who wants to do something will find a way; a man who doesn’t will find an excuse. - Stephen Dolley Jr
I love making lists and unfortunately my list of excuses is probably one of my longest lists.  For years, I made up all sorts of excuses of why I couldn’t lose weight, get in [...]

Fluffy Friday: I Dream of She-Hulk.

This morning my husband tells me he had a dream about me last night.  ”Oh really”, I respond smiling coyly suddenly feeling irresistible.
He continues, “It was so funny.”
“Huh…funny?” feeling like a beautiful song I was hearing had just turned to static. (pause)  Well okay, I’ll take funny.  He is always telling me how much he [...]

How to measure body fat % ?

I’ve been obessing about the scale but too lazy to do my body fat measurements because it takes 5 minutes instead of 5 seconds.  Finally, last weekend I pulled out my calipers and there was good news and bad news.  The good is news are the measurements themselves.  10.9% for the 7 site method and [...]
